Shipmate is USNA’s official alumni magazine and strives to keep everyone informed, interested, and excited about the Naval Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation.
The Class of 2006 contributions continue to help us stay connected and celebrate our shared experiences. We have been thrilled at the number of submissions to date and want to continue to gather your stories and photos for our '06 update section. Our goal remains to never miss a submission!
To smoothen the process, we’ve created a Google Form that will allow you to submit directly to the class officers:
Submission Guidelines
Deadlines: Submit articles and photos prior to deadlines posted at usna.com/deadlines.
Word Count Limits: Maximum 2,000 words (including photo word count).
Photo Word Count Allotment: Most photos count as 100 words (1 column width); groups of 10 or more count as 200 words (2 or 3 column width).
Wardroom Etiquette: Refrain from discussing politics, religion, sex, or race in your submissions.
Photo Requirements:
Acceptable file formats: JPG or TIFF.
Attach files to the email. Do not send more than 10 MB.
Resolution: 300 dpi is ideal for print production. Set digital cameras or cell phones to “Fine” or “Very Fine” settings for highest resolution.
Photos taken from the Internet or PowerPoint presentations (72 dpi) cannot be used. The Shipmate editors will determine photo usability.
Label photos as 06#1, 06#2, etc.
Example submission:
Wanda ('06) and Thaddeus Door ('05) traveled on the USNA alumni trip to Ohio, visiting Akron, Elyria, and historic Norwalk. During a gas stop in Brunswick, they met up with fellow 19th Company shipmates and discussed the finer points of intra-company secret relationships.
